Colin Hunter is an art/design student at the University of Michigan. His personal work explores both 3D and 2D designs using technical drawing, computer-aided design, additive manufacturing, paper engineering and research. Colins work stems from interests in geometry, Islamic tiling, architecture, science, technology, mathematics and nature.
Colins paper sculptures emerged through a fascination with repeating 2D geometric forms, tiling, technical perspective drawing, algorithmic and generative design.
He also works as a interdisciplinary researcher at the University of Michigan Department of Aerospace Engineering where he designs deployable space structures, energy absorption devices, meta-materials and auxetic structures that take inspiration from origami and paper folding.
